Why Your Prescription Pad Design Matters
A prescription pad is one of the few branded items that leaves your clinic and goes home with the patient. A professionally designed pad reinforces your credibility, improves patient trust, and makes your practice look established and serious.
Tip 1: Keep the Header Clean and Readable
The top of your prescription pad — your name, qualifications, and clinic name — should be immediately readable. Avoid using more than 2-3 font sizes. Your doctor name should be the largest, followed by qualifications, then clinic name and details.
Tip 2: Use Your Clinic's Brand Colors
If your clinic has a logo or brand colors, use them on your prescription pad. Consistent branding builds trust. If you don't have brand colors yet, navy blue and white is a classic, professional choice for medical practices.
Tip 3: Don't Overcrowd the Header
A common mistake is trying to fit too much information at the top. Stick to the essentials: name, qualifications, registration number, clinic name, and contact details. Leave the rest of the pad for the prescription area.
Tip 4: Ensure Enough Writing Space
The Rx writing area needs sufficient blank space. Doctors should be able to write 5–8 lines of prescription comfortably. If the writing area feels cramped, patients may have trouble reading the prescription.
Tip 5: Include Your Registration Number Prominently
Your MCI or state medical council registration number is not just a legal requirement — it also builds trust. Patients and pharmacists look for this to verify the authenticity of a prescription.
Tip 6: Consider Single vs Multi-Color
Multi-color printing (using your brand colors) looks more premium and professional. Single-color (black) printing is clean and classic, and costs 50% less. For a high-volume clinic, multi-color is worth the investment.
